Walking Tennis

Walking tennis is for those who enjoy a gentler pace of play and is a great way to stay active.  Sessions are held at the club on a Wednesday morning at 10am and usually last for an hour.

It's played with a softer ball that is allowed to bounce twice before being hit, but it can also be hit after one bounce or volleyed.  If you hit the ball too hard you will loose the point if the ball only bounces once inside the court and the second bounce is outside the court.

Serves are hit underarm and you are allowed two serves in exactly the same way as for normal tennis.  Scoring is the same too, except that at deuce (40-40) it's a "sudden death" point.  Further details are available on the LTA website.

Membership fees are usually due on 1 May each year but if you join the club part-way through the year the fees are likely to be reduced.

The fees for 2024/5 are

  • Annual membership £50.00

  • Pay-as-you-go membership £3.00 per session
